Holistic Hound Calm Canine

My dog is not too keen on this product unfortunately. I mix it in her dinner and it takes a while for her to start eating and then leaves a little bit behind!

Works well!

I've taken some of the ingredients in this product myself to help with sleep, and we can definietly see it working for our dogs during firework season. We've been adding it to their dinners and we can see them can see them relaxing and then getting a good nights sleep afterwards, it really works!

Worth trying for anxious/reactive dogs

Decided to try this on my two rescue sheepdogs, one is nervous and one is reactive with other dogs. Both seem better after a month of treatment, it’s easy to add to food and goes down without protest.

Holistic hound calm canine

I use this one our terrier who is a very anxious walker, she gets scared when she hears cars on the road, she also gets anxious of walking new paths or areas so we have bought this to help. We've been using it roughly 2/3 weeks now, we do see a slight difference with her and hoping the longer we use the better it'll be for her along with some training. It's hard to say how much it has helped but definitely has made a slight difference in how nervous she was going about her day.

Started giving this to my 3 month old pup about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, still seeing the same level of seperation anxiety and anxious behaviour. No noticeable difference in her.

Too soon to tell

Too soon to tell if it helps, but my dog doesn’t mind the taste. I would give 5/5 stars if it was easier to dose. Loses a star as there is no pump or any sort of measuring lid on this product, so you have to eyeball and guess.

Herbal ingredients of Holistic Hound Calm Canine:

  • Skullcap: One of the most effective nervine herbs, used for chronic cases of nervous tension, anxiety and overexcitability – once widely known as “mad dog weed”! It can also help to relieve pain from nerve-related injury. It does not bring about drowsiness, or dull the reflexes; but acts to moderate responsiveness to stimuli to alleviate restlessness.
  • Ahswagandha: An adaptogenic herb that has a relaxing and calming effect. A great muscle relaxant. Reduces inflammation and is a powerful anti-oxidant. Regulates the immune system. Has hematopoietic properties (positive effect on blood cells).
  • Chamomile: A versatile yet powerful soothing & healing herb. It can also support the digestive system, strengthen muscle tissues and reduces inflammation. Has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.
  • Oat Tops: Helps the nervous system recover after exposure to stress, and furthermore it inhibits the enzyme PDE4 which results in reduced stress and anxiety, and even depression.
  • Valerian: Inhibits the breakdown of GABA in the brain resulting in feelings of tranquillity and calmness. It contains hesperidin and linarin which have a sedative action. It helps regulate excessive activity in the fear centre of the brain and reduces strong stress reactions.
  • Passionflower: Boots the level of GABA in the brain which in turn lowers the brain activity making your dog more relaxed, calmer and sleep better.

Nutritional Analysis

Feeding Guidelines

Feed once daily or periodically as required. Add directly to food.

Feed 1ml to every 2kg of dogs weight.

Suitable for use with epileptic dogs as the herbs included have been shown to have positive impacts on the frequency and severity of seizures. Do discuss this with your Vet before administering.

Switched to this food two months ago after really great consult in store. I had a working Mali who needed high calories but was getting itchy skin and occasional diarrhoea. We switched to this and the improvement is massive! I don’t have to feed such a high quantity and it is perfect with his raw toppers! We also managed to get my other shepherd onto this after she spent the last 4 years on a very expensive prescription diet! After the recommendation of a pre and pro biotic and slowly introducing this, she is not fully on DARF wild and thriving! They adore it too which is a great help! And I find it great to use as a training treat and they find it very high in value! One bag lasts my two Belgian male approx 4 weeks with a small amount of raw toppers! We went from spending €170 per month on each of their foods to just €71 with the subscription! Highly recommend!!
